Crafted Nacre Earrings 4

Intro:

So for the last couple weeks, I've been hanging out with a jewelry artisan downtown and helping him and his friend, the henna artist, pack things away in their truck every night.

He gave me a free jewelry head piece: [link]

and then we discussed making jewelry, which got me started in learning to do so with him while hanging out there. I discovered most of his, and many other artisans, salvage old jewelry to make new ones.

It's really neat when you can buy an old gaudy piece with TONS of items on it, take it apart, and create 20 new pieces of jewelry. Of course, using beads you buy in bulk, cheap, from craft stores, or smaller pieces you've also salvaged.

I'm going to be getting into jewelry crafting now, working with the artisan to promote and sell his work when he's out of town and making my own stuff to sell at market places. Gonna really stock up before next summer and join him and the other artisans with my own table/tent. I'm so excited.

I remembered I had a necklace I bought back in Mexico that was just 14 of these green shard shaped items. I didn't know what they were until today. Mother of Pearl, or "Nacre" covered this thing. I didn't feel like wearing it shortly after getting it, so I finally had use for it. I've made 7 pairings, with 3 of them being the same basic design.
